Hey 👋🏾,
I hope this email finds you with a camera in one hand and a coffee in the other!
Today, I'm itching to tell you about something I'm passionate about—photography, and specifically, how we can capture our daily lives in more meaningful ways.
I prefer to snap my pics with a proper camera not a smartphone and, here are some tips that might just change how you view photographing your daily life.
If you’d like to watch the video it’s linked below, otherwise read on 🙂
1. Keep It On You and Be Present
Did you know that our phones are designed to distract us? Yep, every ding and buzz is a call for attention. But here's the thing—when you're using a camera, it’s just you and the scene in front of you. No notifications, no interruptions. This is why I love bringing my camera along, even on the most mundane days. It helps me stay present, and honestly, there’s something magical about capturing life as it happens, undisturbed.
2. Keep the Gear Simple
It's easy to get caught up in the latest tech and gadgets (trust me, I know!), but I've found that simplifying your setup can actually enhance your creativity. Try sticking to one camera body and one lens. It’s not just about making your bag lighter—it's about challenging yourself to see your surroundings through a single lens, literally and metaphorically. You’d be surprised at the wonders a single focal length can capture!
3. Every Picture Tells a Story
Remember, every photo you take tells a part of your story. Try to think about what your pictures say about the world and your place in it. What’s the story behind the image? Whether it’s a bustling city scene or a quiet morning at home, your photos are a way to communicate your perspective and share your experiences.
4. Keep It Organized
Here’s a little tip that has saved me tons of time and headaches: as soon as you transfer your photos, take a moment to name and date them. Adding a brief description or location can also be a game-changer when you’re looking back through your archives. It’s about making your future self smile, finding that perfect shot from a special day without having to sift through thousands of files.
Photography is a powerful tool to freeze time, capture emotions, and even transform the mundane into something extraordinary. So, the next time you pick up your camera, think about the stories you want to tell and the moments you want to remember. It’s not just about taking photos—it’s about making memories last.
Keep capturing and sharing your world, one photo at a time!
Best,
Larry G.
